When you're following pressure injury prevention protocols and treating chronic wounds, you need a silicone foam dressing that can do it all. A dressing that’s easy to apply and intuitive to use.
It can be difficult for some foam dressings to stay in place, especially during repositioning or after skin inspection. Biatain® Silicone Fit embraces the body’s natural form with a border that’s gentle for patient comfort, and it’s optimized to stay in place during wear. We call that Fit to the body.
Treating wounds is a complex matter. And complications from infections and maceration only prolong the healing process. Biatain Silicone Fit matches the shape and depth of the wound bed up to 2 cm deep. This leaves minimal space for gaps where exudate can pool, helping to minimize the risk of infection. We call that Fit to the wound.
When it comes to foam dressings, it’s the finer details that really make the difference for clinicians and patients. That’s why Biatain® Silicone Fit has an advanced five-layered design where every layer and detail is created to optimize product performance. Because small features mean big wins.
All 12 shapes and sizes of our Biatain® Silicone Fit dressing are designed for pressure injury prevention and wound treatment. So simply choose the option that fits your needs.

Folds, creases, movements. When it comes to pressure injury prevention, it can be difficult for some foam dressings to stay in place – especially with regular patient repositioning and multiple skin inspections. This could lead to frequent and premature dressing changes, which can increase dressing and nursing costs.1
If a foam dressing doesn’t offer the right level of adhesion, border rolling and wrinkling can occur, leading to poor performance.
Without sufficient adhesion to the skin, a dressing can often move out of place – making premature dressing changes more likely.
If the right dressing isn’t in place, friction and shear forces can potentially lead to skin and tissue breakdown.
The dressing’s soft and flexible materials reduce friction and shear forces to help prevent skin and tissue breakdown.
A layer of unique Biatain® foam works to redistribute and even out any transmitted pressure across the pad.
Tapered edges support flexibility and easy application. And for sacral applications, twin tips and slits help the dressing better adhere to the gluteal cleft.

Wound complications slow down the healing process and take a toll on your patients. With some foam dressings, there can be a higher risk of dead space formation and exudate pooling. Below, you can learn more about these complications and how they can impact wound healing.
If there is dead space between the wound bed and the dressing, exudate can pool and lead to maceration, infection, and delayed healing.
If exudate leaks onto the wound edges and periwound skin, there’s a greater risk of maceration and delayed wound healing.
If it isn’t managed properly, exudate pooling and bacterial growth can start a cascade of challenges such as infection.

With an innovative foam layer Biatain® Silicone Fit will match the shape and depth of a wound bed up to 2 cm deep. This leaves minimal dead space where exudate can pool. And creates a close fit that lowers the risk of infection and maceration.
The foam expands to match the shape and depth of the wound bed for a close fit. That means the foam minimizes the dead space and reduces exudate pooling for optimal wound healing conditions.
As the foam gets into contact with exudate, the exudate is absorbed vertically through microcapillaries in the foam without spreading across. That way it keeps exudate away from the periwound skin to reduce risk of maceration.
As exudate is absorbed through the dressing it is retained and locked away inside the dressing even under compression to reduce the risk of leakage and maceration.
